Social Media Tips – Online Tools to Increase Your Networking Contacts

December 20, 2009

networkingMany of my business coaching clients often ask me for advice on what I consider the best social media sites and tools to use for small business networking. Here are a few:

As part of our new media strategy, we use a variety of tools. Some examples:

1. Twitter – You should regularly Tweet important company announcements and links to information that could be useful for the industries you cover. Be on Twitter a lot! You should routinely Tweet important company announcements as well as links to information that might be useful for your community.

2. Facebook – I suggest creating a company page and continue to make gradual enhancements to it on a day-to-day basis.

3. StumbleUpon – Created an account and develop a collection of your favorite links. Develop a company profile at StumbleUpon and are gradually developing a collection of favorite pages. This can be done automatically by using…

4. OnlyWire – A free toolbar download that allows you to post web site bookmarks to over twenty five social media sites.

5. Sign up to SU.PR, which will tremendously help you to monitor the response levels to the information you share.

I have embraced social networking media to enhance my company’s online presence and exposure. Whatever your business niche is, by using the above tips, you should manage to get widespread response.

I have been followed on Twitter by a few software startups and a few startup marketing gurus. Through this following I have been fortunate to receive mention in some high profile business journals. I can easily pin some of this early success on my social media efforts. Without question my efforts to increase my online presence and exposure have been aided by the social media tactics above.

As you blaze trails and spread the word about your mission, there’s no doubt that social media should continue to play an important role.

If you are out to attract prospective customers and develop your online presence and exposure, you owe it to yourself and the financial future of your business to learn everything you can about social media.
